Associate Professor Peter Trnka

Peter is the Director of Paediatric Nephrology at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane and an Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the School of Medicine, the University of Queensland. He obtained his medical degree at the Comenius University, Bratislava, Slovakia. Peter completed his paediatric nephrology fellowship at the British Columbia Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada where he subsequently worked as a paediatric nephrologist. He moved to Brisbane in 2010 and worked as a staff nephrologist at the Royal Children’s and Mater Children’s Hospitals. Peter also holds a Master of Science Degree in Experimental Medicine from the University of British Columbia, Canada. His research interests include biomarkers of obstructive nephropathy, genetic renal disease, and renal tumours associated with tuberous sclerosis complex.
