Dr. Tchan is a clinical and metabolic geneticist looking after adults with genetic disorders and inborn errors of metabolism. He is currently the Head of Department, 
Genetic Medicine at Westmead Hospital in Sydney. Dr. Tchan is also a senior lecturer at the University of Sydney.
He has active research interests in renal genetic disorders and the lysosomal storage disorders. He runs a multi-disciplinary renal genetics clinic at Westmead Hospital and is also responsible for the NSW Adult Genetic Metabolic Disorders Clinic.
