Applicants for ANZSN ASM Awards & Prizes must meet the relevant criteria for each prior to applying for that award during submission of their abstract(s). Eligible abstracts must be accepted as an ORAL presentation type for the 2017 ANZSN ASM.

 

YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARDS

Please note that each presenting author can only nominate for one abstract in the Young Investigator Award category. The presenting author must also be the lead author of the abstract.

Applicants must be at an early stage of their career and preferably enrolled in a higher degree (or just submitted). The research supervisor must be listed. The presenting author should be the first author and she/he should primary driver of the research presented. To be considered for this award, the presenting author must be a financial member of the ANZSN. Selected abstracts will be presented as oral presentations.

BEST SCIENCE AWARDS

  • KIDNEY HEALTH AUSTRALIA CLINICAL SCIENCE AWARD
  • BASIC SCIENCE AWARD

The highest ranked best clinical science and basic science abstracts will be presented in these sessions. Awards are open to all registrants, regardless of the phase of their career. To be considered for this award, the presenting author must be a financial member of the ANZSN. The abstract will be presented as an oral presentation. Only one abstract per person can be selected for presentation. In the case of more than one abstract per person being ranked highly the topped rank abstract will be selected for presentation.

 

BEST RURAL SCIENCE AWARD

Please note that each presenting author can only nominate for one abstract in the Basic Rural Science category.

Awarded to the best research produced while resident in an Australian or New Zealand non metropolitan area (determined by chair of ANZSN rural group) submitting work undertaken whilst working in a rural setting. Presenting author must be a current member of ANZSN.

 

TRAINEE PRIZE

Please note that each presenting author can only nominate for one abstract in the Trainee category.

Applicants must be working exclusively as either a basic trainee or a Nephrology Advanced Trainee, and not enrolled in any higher research degree. The applicant should be the first author, and have undertaken the research whilst working exclusively in a training position (not a research position). Submissions may be any clinical or basic science research, including but not limited to clinical audits, cohort and case series studies, guideline implementation projects, and morbidity mortality reviews. To be considered for this award, the applicant must be a financial member of the ANZSN by the time of the Annual Scientific Meeting. Each applicant can nominate only ONE abstract for the Advanced Trainee Prize. The highest scoring applicants will be invited to present in a dedicated mini-oral session at the ASM. The winner will be announced at the ASM dinner.

About ANZSN

The ASM is hosted by Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology.

The aims of the Society are to promote and support the study of the kidney and urinary tract in health and disease, and to ensure the highest professional standards for the practice of nephrology in Australia and New Zealand.
