Matthew Roberts


Deputy Director of Nephrology, Eastern Health

A/Prof Roberts is a full-time Nephrologist at Eastern Health in Melbourne and Adjunct Associate Professor in the Eastern Health Clinical School, Monash University. His PhD through Austin Health and the University of Melbourne examined the association of various cardiovascular biomarkers in patients with chronic kidney disease with outcomes. He proposed the Beta-Blocker to Lower Cardiovascular Dialysis Events (BLOCADE) Feasibility Study to the Australasian Kidney Trials Network (AKTN) and led this in close collaboration with the AKTN. He has since chaired the AKTN Haemodialysis Work Group and has recently become Chair of the AKTN Scientific Committee.

In addition, he is Chair of the Haemodialysis Work Group for the Australia and New Zealand Dialysis and Transplant (ANZDATA) Registry, and Chair of the Cochrane Kidney and Transplant Advisory Board. He is Subject Editor for cardiovascular disease for the journal Nephrology, Associate Editor for BMC Trials and Editor for Cochrane Kidney and Transplant.
